Finally

It's FINALLY here!! Tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m. is the Sunflower Ceremony (aka law school graduation) for 2008 University of Texas School of Law Graduates. WHEEEEE!!! It's sort of unreal to me that i'm going to be walking across that stage tomorrow. What a ridiculous three years it's been! It's still not all over... i still have 4 credits left to take in June AND the BAR exam to take in July, but it's about as real as it can get right now, and that's just fine with me.

In about 30 minutes I'm going to pick up my darling sister and bro-in-law from the airport. Tomorrow morning Momma and Daddy Park are coming in, and after graduation festivities we are all having dinner @ Gumbo's downtown. Sunday we have brunch reservations @ Chez Zee, and then i hope to spend some quality time outside with Lola and my dear family.

Speaking of that adorable little puppy of mine... my mom still doesn't know i have her. So tomorrow will be QUITE a surprise. I'm not sure how she'll react, to be honest. On the one hand she'll be furious with me for going behind her back and getting a dog when she pretty much forbade it. On the other i'm 24 years old, graduating from law school, and SO close to getting off her payroll so... who cares? Not who cares, but she knows she really can't stop me from doing whatever i want. What a weird feeling...

This morning i had a Graduation Brunch & Tea with my darling Pony (BFF in law school!), and we exchanged gifts while Lola and Beau (her little Yorkie) ran around the apt. She LOVED her scrapbook i'm so happy to say, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE my gorgeous Vera Bradley travel bag, monogrammed with a big HOT PINK "C"! Isn't it amazing how monogramming can make an item so much more personal and wonderful? I love it, particularly in hot pinK!

Speaking of hot pink... Kimberly Wilson over at Hip Tranquil Chick blogged about adding some fun hot pink streaks to her hair the other day. It reminded me of how much i adored my hot pink streaks, and so i stopped by Hot Topic today to see if they had any of my "atomic pink" hair dye. Sadly they stopped carrying it!! I'm determined to find it and get all kinds of funky with my hair. I only have 4 months to be CRAZY, and so i've pretty much decided to get it all out of my system. Hurray!!

1 Down.. 800 to go!

Just finished my first final this morning. It went tres well, if you ask me, especially considering my class attendance and prep work. Before the test, my dear friend Dara walked in, and we were both shocked to see each other (as she doesn't have the best class attendance either). After a quick, "you're in this class??", i found out later from another friend that one of her neighbors said, "well at least we'll do better than them..." H8ers!! They have no idea who they are messing with!!

Anyway, Lola is tres famous and has not only graced the Hip Tranquil Chick blog in the past month, but is also featured in the Tranquil Space Newsletter you can find here. I'm SO excited for Kimberly's move to a bigger & better location, and although i'm totally bummed about missing the grand opening soiree (it's on the day of my graduation), i'm definitely planning a trip to DC post-BAR trip to take a yoga class or two, sip tea @ the new Tea Bar, and of course, spend time with my #1 girl crush. :-) Hopefully I can bring Lola, and her and Louis (KW's adorable black pug) can get friendly!

Ok time for lunch (shrimp tacos from Sago) and some paper writing. Funner events for the day include an AABA (Asian-American Bar Association) Happy Hour at my mentor's house and dinner @ Stix Bistro with L & M. Have a good one, kids!

Le Sigh

Oi vey. What a weekend. What a Monday! And what a terrifying two weeks i've got ahead of me. It's that time of year again, my friends, FINALS time. Yes it is the last time i'll have to endure this, but let's be honest, the BAR is only going to be 20X worse. So i apologize if i can't see the silver lining quite yet.

I had a fabulous weekend - highlights included an incredible dinner at 34th Street Cafe w/ dear friends, closing down the bar at Vin Bistro, and then post-partying at the Pink palace until 3:30 a.m. Woke up to MANY empty wine bottles, but it was totally worth it. Can't wait to do it again! The rest of the weekend's a bit of a blur, to be honest. This morning was the last class day, and i graced the law school with my appearance. (Yay me!) Then i rode my Cruiser (thinking of giving it a name... more on this later) to the tennis courts and played w/ Pony. Since then i've mostly been studying, emphasis on the DYING. My body physically reacts to studying, it's awful. I get achey, nauseous, and pretty much want to crawl into bed and never come out. Ever. Luckily i broke for delicious and Gossip Girls (that show is a baaaaaaad addiction) and a couple of phone chats w/ Momma Park and Ma Soeur. Truthfully i kind of wanted to turn off all lines of communication. There's something about not wanting to talk on the phone to other law students when it's finals time. Don't take offense, kids!

My darling baby has spent most of the day sleeping. I feel really bad for her since I can't give her attention she needs/deserves these days. The kitties have been living it up in my bedroom, spending hours gazing out the window and curled up on my duvet. I really do love my little zoo. :-)

Ok before i hit the books again, does anyone know how i can get old episodes of the Oprah Show? I missed the one with Elizabeth Gilbert, and i'm DYING to see it!! Also, i found this great ritual that i'd love to start tonight (if i can remember!). Before going to bed, i'm going to write 3 things for which i'm grateful in my journal. These days i'm way too exhausted to actually spend time journaling, but there's no reason i can't spend a few minutes thinking about the good things with which i'm blessed. One thing i'm grateful for today? That i have a beautiful apartment and cuddly animals. Sure makes staying inside and studying a LOT more bearable.

Back to Reality

Weekend get-aways make it tres difficult to return to the real world. I successfully made it to both my classes today, but I did not make it to my French class. Was soo exhausted by the time i got home from class and running errands and had beaucoup de reading, laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc. to do that i played hooky. :-( Promise to be good from now on for SURE.

I can't believe my Corporations final is next week, Con Law II final the week after, and MPRE the week after that. The next 3 weeks of my life are not looking good...

On a brighter note, I tried out my new Get Your Yoga On CD tonight since i couldn't make it into the studio. Dimmed the lights, lit some yummy candles, and somehow managed to get Puffin off my yoga mat and yogitoes. Success!! I had my first real home practice, and I have Kimberly Wilson (duh) to thank for it. I think I want to get the Baron Baptiste CD as well as it is a bit more challenging. I wonder if I can mimic the studio's heat by turning my thermostat up to 90 degrees? Hmm...

Just ate a sad little dinner of corn on the cob, sauteed spinach and garlic, and brown rice. I really should go to the grocery store and put some effort into cooking real meals, but i just can't seem to find the energy or the time. These are the times when i miss Mom the most.

Off to soak in the tub and read for class. Bonsoir, darlings!
