Not-So-Happy Monday

I'm in a funk. I woke up exhausted. It's dark and persistently rainy outside (which I would normally welcome if i could stay in bed all day). For the last three days I've had an annoying ache in the lower arch/heel part of my right foot, and this morning it was downright painful to walk. I forgot my watch. And earrings. My eyeliner smudged. And I'm just... tired. I crave solitude, a big bed, comforting tea, & melancholy music (like the new Beach House album - fantastico). Oh and no responsibilities!

What to do when you are uber crabby, have zero energy, and don't have the luxury of sulking in bed in a frothy white tutu?

Go away, funk.

Cheer up, Carolyn! I know it sucks to be in a funk, but try looking for the POSITIVE! :)

Oh Carolyn, I am so sorry your in a funk. Do something extra nice and pampering for you- rent a great movie, order in dinner and enjoy a Monday evening glass of vin. Perhaps a Lush bath and some quiet time will help you out. Sending big hugs!! xoxo

I am so sorry to hear that you are in a funk darling. Here is one of my recipes to get myself out of a funk (which for me is also usually aggravated by dark rainy weather)

Take 1 hour totally dedicated to yourself. Which means turning off the computer, blackberry and all other distractions

* Spend ten minutes writing what you are thankful for and how it makes your life brighter.
* Spend thirty minutes in the bath with a Lush bath bomb and a book that puts a smile on your face (When I am in a funk this is usually a children's book like Dr. Seuss.)
* Spend teh minutes dancing to your favourite song
* Finish it up with ten minutes of meditation or stillness.

This combination usually brings me right out of a funk. I hope you are able to break out of your funk soon.

I am having the same kind of day :( My plan is to have a nice long hot shower, watch a girly movie and go to bed early.

Hope you feel better tomorrow!

Carolyn, dear, I know exactly how you feel. I've been feeling much the same way lately. Anyway, one of the things I do when I'm in a funk is to excercise. I know this does not sound appealing, but seriously, sometimes it's the only thing that can get me feeling a bit better. Even if it's just a short jog, it may really help to boost your spirits. Otherwise, take a hot bath and journal, a lot. Feel better, love.

I'm sorry you're feeling funk-y (:D)

Regarding the foot pain, if you have a tennis ball around, stick it under your foot and roll it back and forth with comfortable pressure...like a massage for your feets!

I hope your day and week get better!

What do I do? Hmm, I don't even have time these days for a funk. Literally, it is on the go except when I'm sleeping. Basically, I just tell myself I could be miserable and in a funk or I could just move on. If the underlying source of the funk is beyond my control, I figure why worry. If the source is within my control. I focus on how to change it.

Sleep.

or a good mix tape with some old school jams. Listen to some Salt n Peppa on your way to work and sing along.

Hope your week gets better!

Carolyn,
You have plantar faciatus.
It's when the muscles in the arch of your foot are pulled so tight they begin to pull on the tendons that connect to the heel. Can lead to bone spurs if not treated.
Schedule an hour with a massage therapist pronto -- have them work on your feet the whole time. There are worse treatments - :)

Well, this is when I pull out my fluffy PINK tutu. It works every time!

Actually, I've had a couple of these days over the last couple of months. I have to remind myself this is just fleeting mood, and a time to take care of myself. I go buy a few magazines, a Lush bath bomb, and either a cupcake or some cookies. I put on "chick music," eat sugary stuff and soak in bubbles with magazines and a Alexandra Stoddard book. Most important, I get a lot of sleep. I pop something to help me out and sleep a good 9-10 hours. I get up, take my vitamins and run until my legs won't go any further.

I have to tell you, since I've changed my diet my mean-red days are much fewer and farther between. Sorry your were feeling low, my cute friend....hope you're feeling better now.
