Missing Coffee and a 9-year old Fashionista

Bleh. Today was one of those mornings where i literally fought myself to get out of bed. I have biweekly Tuesday 8:30 a.m. meetings that sort of kill me (sleep-wise). Anyhoo, in the rush of getting out the door, i completely forgot to fill my thermos full of hot, delicious, and freshly brewed coffee. :-( As soon as i got to work and yawned for the 20th time, i realized my mistake and cursed myself the entire way to Starbucks. Honestly, Starbucks' mistos, while convenient and tasty, are not as good as my homemade blend of Texas Pecan and Venezuelan bean. Yum.

Another slightly disturbing (or inspiring?) thing is this 9-year old fashion blogger that i discovered via Sea of Shoes (love love love Jane and could care less that she's almost a decade younger than moi). Precocious nine-year old Ava apparently embrances peep-toe booties and platform sandals as much as the rest of us. Hm. The thing is... isn't 9 a little.. young?? I mean i'm all for embracing style at a young age, but goodness. Kind of freaks me out a little!

Ooh on another note (idk why i'm so ADD this morning), if you're an Austinite you MUST try Torchy's Tacos! S and i went last night, and it was so charming i could hardly stand it. Christmas lights strewn about, outdoor tables with tiny flickering candles, and very dog-friendly, this place totally rocks. And the tacos? To. Die. For. I had the Ranch Hand and the Democrat. Both delicious! The crowd was a mixed variety, but there was this one older gentleman who approached us and kindly asked whether we'd like to "share a bowl" with him. Aren't Austinites so generous?

It's been such a long time! But, I checked in with your blog today and it looks great. I'm starting one of my own in the next couple of weeks. I hope you are doing well and I miss our AIM chats.

Have you looked at the site Apartment Therapy? It's probably my favorite design site...ever. And check out Smitten Kitchen and 101 Cookbooks - my two favorite food blogs.

Also, I think I might be in Austin in October. Would love to meet up.

Carolyn,

I just love the name of your blog. Is it from Pink Martini? You may have mentioned the purpose for your title in a past post, but I have just found your blog. Anyway, your blog title is very alluring for someone like me who loves their music. I was just in Austin a month ago and I wish that I had known about the taco place. I'll have to check it out the next time I go. Oh, and I'll have to check up on the 9 year old who loves shoes!
