The Office

My office is still ugly. Despite all my plans to turn it into a warm, cozy, soothing and inviting place, it still looks like a glorified prison cell (okay, maybe i'm slightly exaggerating). As i got up to refill my thinksport water bottle, i turned around and saw this...

Not. Attractive.

My goal? Something more like this...

Drew Barrymore's office as featured in Domino (RIP)

See, your office is vastly better than mine - I still need to bring in pictures and stuff thats mine.

Ok! Now you're talking, you can do that. It's a GREAT goal. And so easy!
Get the fabric for the curtains. You can get light cotton shirting and a solid 2 inch red trim at Wal mart for god sake! Seriously curtains are the most inexpensive thing to make and make all the difference (like a dress)! And a trip to ikea and the container store would be fun!

Actually you need a 6 inch edge but you can sew that! Oh, and get the chair at any thrift shop and don't forget the fresh flowers :p

I've been working really hard on cozying up my office too!! I didn't bother at first, but this past month I've really made some good strides. I framed and hung up the "keep calm and have a cupcake" print in red, dried and hung a bouquet of beautiful lavender roses, hung a series of 3 small paintings of various colorful scenes in dc that i bought at eastern market, and the final touch: I got a desk lamp! It makes HUGE difference, b/c I really hate the harsh white fluorescent lights that the office comes with. The only problem is that the desk lamp isn't quite bright enough to light the whole space...but my workspace is nice and cozy and lit by the warm yellow glow of my paper shade desk lamp. It really does make a difference...
